Tesla certified the EV battery pack designed by Team Crack Platoon
A team of students from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) has developed a Tesla certified battery for electric vehicles-EVs. Their modified lithium-ion battery has a model number of 18650. Bangladesh's first Formula Student Team ‘Crack Platoon’ will now assemble this battery pack in their cars at RUET Lab. After that, they will join the Formula Student Competition 2025 with the dream of winning the world.
As part of the preparations for this competition, the Crack Platoon's battery pack was inaugurated on Sunday (September 15) at Seminar Hall No. 217 of RUET's Administration Building. RUET Vice-Chancellor (Acting) Dr. Tarif Uddin Ahmed and Chief Consultant Prof. Dr. Md. Rokonuzzaman wished the team members success in this informal event. They observed the battery pack and gave them some suggestions. They promised the team to render the opportunity to use lab facilities and also to provide financial support to these young inventors.
The Crack Platoon now has 29 members under the leadership of Saadman Saqueeb, a 4th year student of Electrical and Engineering and R Rafiul Haque Ayan, a 3rd year student of Industrial and Production Engineering Department. All the members were present at the battery pack launch.
According to the competition rules, the battery style and technology had to be passed on to Tesla engineers. The design and engineering of the battery pack was certified by Tesla's senior electronic engineer Howard Jin and mechanical design engineer Kaushik Ashok Bhatija by meeting online.
When asked about the relationship between Crack Platoon and Tesla, Rafiul Haque Ayon, co-captain of the engineering team said, "Our journey with Tesla started from 2023. From our battery design to our requirements, we have regular meetings with Tesla engineers. We got the final result of this long hard work. Tesla sends the battery pack ready according to our design and requirement.
Last month, we completed the design of the battery used in Tesla's potential electric vehicle. Ayon said that it arrived in the country a couple of weeks ago. By the end of 2023, Tesla has mailed us agreeing to collaborate with us. After that mail we worked together for a long time and modified the battery and they accepted it and finally sent us the battery pack.

He said, we see this achievement not only as a team achievement, we see this achievement as a collective achievement of RUET. Our target is to develop Bangladesh in the automobile sector and to shine the name of Bangladesh in various competitive world stages.
In 2019, Bangladesh's Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology's 'Team Crack Platoon' participated in Formula Student Japan with the country's first electric formula vehicle. Then in 2023, they wanted to move to Poland with the new electric vehicle 'CP-E23'. But it did not happen due to visa complications. But recently they participated in Formula India 2024 onsite. They stood 10th in Business Plan Presentation and 6th in Math-works Modeling in the competition. However, the team is working on making another electric vehicle by 2025.
